I Understand how to develop Total Body Fitness.
I have been involved in and had a passion for individual sports since the age of
six. My career began in the martial Art of Soo Bahk Do Korean Karate (formerly
known as Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan). By the time I was nine years old, I
had become one of the youngest black belts in the U.S. At twelve years old, I
became Head Instructor of my own dojang.
I have been involved with weight training for the last 25 years. Where martial
arts developed such things as my speed, agility, flexibility, cardiovascular
endurance, balance, core, and reactive skills, the weight training also offered
complimentary benefits such as increased strength, power, muscle mass,
recovery ability between workouts, ability to better take a "hit", and a positive
self image.
My dual background in weight training and Martial Arts has given me many
advantages over a typical trainer who may have focused his or her attention on
only one area, such as training for muscle mass.
The areas mentioned above are all important and intertwined. One cannot
maximize his or her potential in any area, such as strength or muscle mass,
without establishing at least a basic foundation in the others. Research has
shown that being weak in one of these areas such as flexibility or core training,
while taxing your body in another area such as mass training, will ultimately
lead to you falling short of your potential....... or worse yet, sustaining an injury.
You can always choose to specialize and focus on one particular area, but it is
important never to neglect the others.
